What is it?
Crypto-media
I’m sure you’re wondering by now, WTF is Cryptomedia? We always seem to butcher it when we try to explain it in technical terms, so it’s best to click the link if you’re into that sort of thing. But to put it in plain english, ‘Cryptomedia is the provable original of any form of digital media that can be bought and/or sold online (think document, picture, song, video, etc.)’. Each cryptomedia asset by definition includes its own method of exchange and historical record of ownership. This is achieved by leveraging blockchain-based protocols like Project NEWM and the Zora Protocol, which are both NFT music solutions on the Cardano and Ethereum blockchains respectfully.
Basically, by leveraging this technology, all of the art we publish (or mint) on chain will be around for as long as blockchains are online. Not only does this allow the creator of each asset to get receive a royalty each time their art is sold, it also provides public proof of ownership of the asset in perpetuity.
